Description

Antique German violin by Wolff brothers, Kreuznach, 1904.Class 3 No.3584.

Part of a small collection of vintage full size violins we have in stock.
All work that was necessary to get them to excellent playing condition, has been performed by a luthier of thirty years standing.
This very distinctive antique violin was made by Leopold and Ferdinand Wolff, better known as the Wolff brothers, in Kreuznach in 1904.
An original dated label indicates it was ‘made abroad’ which means it was for the British market, as they had an excellent reputation and their instruments were especially popular and successful on the British isles.
This late work of the two brothers was also treated with their secret “special tonal improvement”, for it sounds warm, bright and slightly sweetish.
The firm was sold in 1912.
They have been strung with Corelli Crystal strings, and all the pegs are easily tuned.
New bridge fitted.
Length of back 14 1/16″
Top bout 6 3/4/”
Middle bout 4 5/8″
Bottom bout 8 1/4″
Overall very good condition.
Attractive warm sweet bright sound.
We can supply more photos if required.
