Charles O’Connor’s Angel on the Mantlepiece was recorded by Paul Whittaker at Harold Villa in Whitby, in 1999 .
Founder member of Celtic Rock band Horslips, Charles features traditional and contemporary Celtic elements, woven around the travels of Captain Cook,the famous 18th Century seafaring son of Whitby.
Tracks like “Ocean of Storms” and “Sea Change” have a sea shanty-like air, while “Bottom Buttons” and “In Your Own Time” incorporate modern percussion, piano, and violin for a jazzy, contemporary feel.
