1960’s Buchan Portobello Stoneware 2L Pitcher
One of two vintage Buchanan Stoneware hand painted pitchers we have in stock
This is a fine mid-century Scottish stoneware jug.
It was made by Buchan Pottery, Portobello (just outside of Edinburgh), and dates to the early 1960s.
The old pottery kilns still standing as a point of local interest and history. An interesting display on the history of Buchan Pottery is on display in the Museum of Edinburgh on the Royal Mile, Edinburgh.
This jug has a fine rustic design – with cute boldly painted abstract flowers,, which were one of the signature designs of this pottery.
