‘The Proposal – You will not meet with such an offer every day’.

No.1 in the Special Originals series depicts an unattractive working class woman looking for a husband.

The series depicts people who are trying to emulate wealthier men and woman, who are dressed poorly, but had an attitude.

Satirical cartoons like these would later appear in Punch – The London Charivari from the 1840s.

Good condition, two teeny tears, – it has been mounted on thicker paper.

Rare in this condition, just needs framing.
