No it is not a flying saucer, though it is doing a good job of impersonating one! This decorative vase was made in the 1930’s by Bretby, in England.

It has simple lines, but is still very evocative of the period. There were many designers who turned away from the over elaborate, brightly decorated geometric styles, that the majority of the population thought characterised the period.

Bretby, was one pottery that allowed designers to express simple, yet modern ideas

The cream coloured vase is 10" in diameter, and stands 2 ½ " tall. The inside is glazed with bright yellow, as a concession to colour. The number underneath is 35633, just under the Bretby mark
