Groves Hall in Sleights, on the River Esk, just two miles from Whitby, is where we offer Salmon and Sea Trout fishing, on a private stretch of riverbank We have off road parking, and offer luncheon hampers, with a selection of local pies, homemade sandwiches, and cake and with flasks of coffee or tea, fruit juices, or local beer. These can be enjoyed at our picnic table on the river bank.

It is a beautiful and tranquil position in the North Yorkshire National Park with the Weir and fish pass and as it is private, there are few people to break the spell!

See our Facebook page for more photographs and fishing news

We can offer bed and breakfast accomodation at Groves Hall if you would like to spend a few days fishing.

Special Weekend Fishing Rates are available.

The season runs until 30th September for Brown Trout, and until 31st October for Salmon and Sea Trout. Over fifty fish were landed last year from August to the end of October. As this is a spate river it relies on rain, so check the weather forecast.

We operate a two fish limit per person. Any method of fishing is allowed, but fly is limited. No maggot fishing please and coloured fish have to be returned. Full rules are available for the use of our fishing grounds
